“The sell out event was a total success.” said event director Patrick Grube Jr. “The attendance beat our expectations. The whole thing was a mellow, melodic, Saturday afternoon and only a couple of brewers ran out of beer early.”
Organizers admit the major flaw of the event was the ticket taking process. “Only ten percent had bought tickets online, so there was a line. It moved fairly consistently, with about a ten to fifteen minute wait, but I’m sure it felt longer if you were standing in it.” Grube said.
The kid and dog friendly Sky Park in Scotts Valley was a perfect open venue for people to mix and enjoy the sunny afternoon listening to the tunes of THRIVE, The URJ, Acoustic Shadow and Ancestree.
A couple dozen varieties of suds flowed from seventeen brewers with Seven Branches providing beer making demonstrations.
The chair of the Housing Land Trust, PJ Grube, said, “Being a first-time event the Community Housing Land Trust is quiet happy with the results.”
Grube emphasized, “Its important to remember the dozens of volunteers who helped put together this great festival and we want to thank them for their work.”
Organizers are already planning next years event with solutions to the ticket taking process and promise signature tasting glasses for every participant. If you want to get involved with the planning or want to sponsor, vend or volunteer, email the Housing Trust at Info@SantaCruzHousingTrust.org or call the Chair (831) 345-2303
